App Privacy Policy

Olarra is an iOS app that helps Australian nurses check their pay against the applicable industrial instrument. It is operated by Nicholas Rechichi trading as Olarra, based in Western Australia. This policy covers the app. Our website and waitlist are covered by the website privacy policy.

What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to do its job.

Account. Your email address, or your Apple ID email if you sign in with Apple.

Profile. Your state, employer type, role and classification, employment type, contracted hours and pay frequency.

Roster. Shift dates, start and end times, break durations, and any notes you add.

Calculations. The pay estimates the app produces from your roster, including an estimated tax figure, and any payslip gross amount or match answer you enter.

Pay and tax settings. Tax-free threshold and study loan choices, salary packaging and salary sacrifice amounts, and award allowance choices you enter.

Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, a report with your account ID (a random identifier, not your name or email), your device model, iOS version, app version and the technical details of the error.

We do not collect payslip images, employer names, tax file numbers, bank details or health information. The app has no advertising and no third party analytics trackers. If you choose a state or sector Olarra does not cover yet, the app adds one to an anonymous daily count for that state, with nothing that identifies you.

How we use it

Your data is used to calculate your expected pay and show you the results, and crash reports are used to find and fix bugs. We do not sell your data, share it with employers or unions, or use it for advertising.

Where it is stored

Your account and app data are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, in its Tokyo, Japan data centre, and are sent over encrypted connections. Access controls ensure your records can only be read by your own account. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend, and crash reports are processed by Sentry, both in the United States. These providers process data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes. Because some of them store data outside Australia, your information may be held in Japan and the United States.

Notifications and calendar

Shift reminders and calendar sync run on your device. If you turn on calendar sync, shift events are written to the calendar you choose using Apple's calendar service on your phone. We do not read your other calendar events, and no calendar or notification content is sent to our servers.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account in the app from Profile, then Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, shifts, pay periods and calculations from our database, and removes the shifts Olarra added to your calendar from that iPhone.

Access or export your data by emailing support@olarra.com.au and we will provide a copy of the data we hold about you.

Correct your data by editing your profile and shifts in the app at any time.

Permissions for notifications and calendar access can be turned off at any time in iOS Settings.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active so your pay history remains available to you. When you delete your account, your records are removed from our database. We keep a copy of each pay calculation (shift dates and times, classification, employment details and the pay figures, but not your name, email, account ID or notes) for 12 months after deletion so we can check the app's accuracy, then delete it. Removing those identifiers makes it hard, but not impossible, to link a record back to a person. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days. Routine server logs held by our infrastructure providers expire automatically, typically within 30 days.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at support@olarra.com.au and we will respond promptly. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date. Material changes will be flagged in the app.
